Two Trees
album: True Unity (2006), track 4 of 13
author: Chuck Pyle

Where the mountains make the wind And the yellow plains begin There by themselves two trees Are touching limbs The woman-tree, she is small The man-tree, he is tall And she stands before the wind So he won't fall Underground their roots entwine She a spruce and he a pine They are one by some Creator's grand design One day a southern wind blew There was nothing she could do He fell down there beside her Oh, so straight and true A young man and his new wife Cut her down there by his side And built them both into The walls of their new life Now they stand against the wind Protecting all the love within Yellow windows in the snow They are both together again
