The CHUCK PYLE FINGER-STYLE Guitar Workshop
I am teaching guitar workshops again. The CHUCK PYLE FINGER-STYLE Guitar Workshop is geared specifically towards singers & songwriters who want to strengthen their presentation while accompanying themselves, with an emphasis on using Drop D tuning. I've re-cycled material from earlier workshops - the Puget Sound Guitar Workshop and the Swannanoa Gathering - and added several play-along exercises that, I think, make my style more understandable. It's been very satisfying. Please watch for a workshop in your neighborhood or, better yet, contact us to host one. (Slam pickers unite!)
Here's the workshop description:
Free the thumb and fire the band. Learn a finger-style accompaniment - using bass lines, counterpoint and musical hooks - that is actually geared towards soloists. This workshop will demonstrate several unique approaches to finger-style guitar that are perfectly matched to singers & songwriters who want to steady their tempos, expand their dynamic range and enhance their phrasing. Also, the workshop will focus on enlarging the perspective of the traditional Travis finger-style.
Bring your favorite guitar, in concert tune, and be ready to play along. The fee is $65 for a 3-hour class for intermediate-to-advanced players, with a minimum of 3, and a maximum of 15, participants per class.

The Rio Chama River, Northern New Mexico
May 24-26, 2008 (SOLD OUT)
A second trip has been added for Aug 22-24.
Enjoy the music of Chuck Pyle under the stars by a crackling campfire in this extraordinary wilderness. The Rio Chama flows lazily through 35 miles of remote canyon scenery in northern New Mexico.
Designated by Congress as a Wild and Scenic River in 1986, the Chama offers pristine camping amongst towering Ponderosa pines, with an assortment of calm water floating and moderate whitewater rapids, suitable for first-time river travelers, or those seeking outstanding scenery without difficult rapids. You will float by a Franciscan monastary among Cedar and Pinon forested hills, through canyons with 1000 foot sandstone walls, picnic by an historic abandoned line shack, and, on the last day, take-out near Abiquiu, the Echo Amphitheater, and the famous Ghost Ranch, historic home of Georgia O' Keefe, world-reknowned painter and mystic.
THE STAFF: ART has been providing exceptional river experiences and programs for 35 years.
